About Darion

Darion was born in Atlanta, GA. His musical journey began in college at The University of West Georgia. Similar to many freshmen in college, he was undecided on what major he wanted to pursue. That all changed when he began to take piano lessons and fell in love with music.

With one semester of private precollege study, he became a music major with a concentration in Piano Performance & Piano Pedagogy. Studying under Dr. Carol Gingerich, head of The University of West Georgia Piano Department, he was able to make progress quickly. Starting completely from scratch with an excellent piano teacher and practice, within a few years Darion was able to read music fluently, play all major and minor scales and arpeggios, and perform many challenging classical piano repertoire. Darion is proof that it truly is never too late to start learning an instrument and with practice, great things can be accomplished.

While pursuing his Bachelors of Music, he performed during many recitals on campus, both solo and collaboratively. He has also performed for Tanner Medical’s Harmony for Healing; a music therapy program developed to help patients and their loved ones during their hospital stay. As a volunteer, Darion has also performed for Camp Braveheart; a camp for children and teenagers with congenital or acquired heart defects.

Since then, he has had many students and genuinely enjoys teaching students of all ages. He has honed the ability to explain seemingly complex ideas and tasks as simple as possible for his students, as well as studying, researching and acquiring an extensive amount of piano practice techniques used by great concert pianists.

He is classically trained, but enjoys all types of musical genres including jazz, pop, and video game music. He loves guiding new musicians on their path towards a lifetime of musical accomplishment and fulfillment. With Darion’s unique musical background and training, he hopes to inspire an interest and passion for music for all of his students.
